Cynthia began her career as a model New York. Her first contract was with Wihelmina Models. This led to her appearance on the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover debut was one of Essence's most popular covers and an instant favorite with the editor-in-chief at the time, Susan Taylor. Cynthia got her second image shortly thereafter and was the beginning of her successful career. Next stop was Paris in addition to Milan. There she was spotted walking the catwalks at Paris Fashion Week. Cynthia lived for nearly a year abroad. Once she came back she was a huge hit. She was hired to do advertising in the name of Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Editorials for magazines such as Vogue Glamour Elle Essence as well as Vanity Fair followed. Cynthia had a career highlight in the year she was chosen ahead of Naomi Campbell as Sandra Bernhadt's co-star in "Without You I Am Nothing".
